Tahitian Pearls and Blue Topaz Gold Earrings.
Cultured Tahitian pearls are created when implanting into the mollusk a piece of a mother-of-pearl shell bead. Oyster covers it with layers of nacre, just like during formation of natural pearl. Those lustrous creations of the nature can be found in different shapes depending on the method of cultivation.
Colour of the pearl depends on the location of cultivation. Their colour range is vast, from dark hued, grey, silver, dark green, brownish to peacock. They are grown in remote lagoons, protected by coral reefs in French Polynesia, Philippines, Indonesia, Japan, Pacific Islands and Australia. The size of Tahitian cultured pearls range from 7 mm to 20 mm.
Topaz gemstone is birthstone of November. It can come in numerous colours, from clear, through yellow to variety of blue.
Alex is a big enthusiast of contrasting gold with strong colours. She says that there is no need to blend yourself into the crowd.
Those drop earrings are handmade in 9 carat yellow gold. Blue topaz dimensions are 6 x 4 mm. Pearls are in the shape of tear drop and are 11 mm long. Total length of earrings is approximately 23 mm.
